History
Waunfawr in 1949.

Waunfawr lies just outside the boundary of
Aberystwyth proper. The village
for many years remained fairly static in extent and population.
Starting in the fifties, but gathering momentum into the sixties
and seventies, the old village was augmented by several
housing areas
As is often the case with rapid developments the residential element was not parallelled by
social facilities. Shopping was adequate with the arrival of the Co-op (now CKs) in 1978, and
one of the two high schools in the Aberystwyth area is located close-by.
The formation of a Community Association was a natural development;
early
meetings
set up an organisation that worked tirelessly
to provide:
A play area on a field termed Maes Cartrefle - the Cambrian News
reported the land allocation
on 9th July 1982.

The Waunfawr Hall: it took a lot of time and a lot of
effort for this to be funded and built.
In
1985 the Association was lobbying hard to have the land
designated for community use rather than more housing.
Eventually
the go-ahead was
given in 1995.
